OUR THREE PUNTERS CORNER tipsters were on fire with their tips from last weeks racing and went so close to tipping three out of three.
It’s also made the last weeks of our 2021 Punters Corner Charity Tipping Competition very interesting.
Chris was spot on with his tip at the Marburg meeting last Sunday when Johnrod won the opening event in a real tough manner.
Paying $3.00 on Ubet, the son of Sportswriter (USA) was three wide virtually from start to finish and it won't be the five year old’s last win at either the Marburg or Redcliffe tracks.
Later in the day, The Methven Magpie's tip of Maren Franco in race ten, at the grass track meeting at Motukarara, only got run down late in the 2000m race by Katherine, who is held in high regard by her trainer.
Maren Franco was 5/6 in the betting, paying $3.40 for a place on the New Zealand TAB, so it could have been a very juicy result for followers of The Magpie's tips if the winning post had been further up the straight.
Mark spotted the ex-kiwi Ranger Bomb NZ down in grade to race at Newcastle last Monday and the four year old ran out a very easy winner in race nine, paying overs at $2.90 on the tote.
A big well done to the three guys.
With Chris picking up $30.00 towards his banking's and The Magpie's tip running second on Sunday, our Tipping Competition leaderboard is now most interesting.
The Magpie is holding on to his lead by the skin of his teeth with $604.00 banked as we head into week forty-seven.
Chris is now on $602.50, so things are very close and with the $29.00 picked up from Ranger Bomb's NZ win, Mark has now $415.00 in the kitty.
The three guys are in form !!
We head west, Friday @ Gloucester Park.
Race 10 No.8 MAJESTIC COURTNEY
This well-travelled trotter was most unlucky last start, he should've won his first local start since coming across from Victoria.
Bruce Stanley does a good job with his trotters and he looks well placed here so be prepared to forgive. Looks hard to beat under these conditions.
The Methven Magpie is heading to today’s Addington meeting for his best bet of the week and it comes up early in the nine race programme.
He’s very keen on the Brent White trained Nordy Star with Stephen McNally to drive in race two.
The three-year-old son of Terror To Love has drawn six and in early markets is at $6.00.
It hasn’t the best form in the world and The Magpie has spotted it's reasonably short in the betting and maybe thinking “Where there is smoke – There is fire !!”
As soon as we hear from Mark we shall have his selection up.
Good punting to all.
Stuart and Marg Valentine
