Punters Corner

OUR THREE tipsters unfortunately couldn’t find a winner last week for Punters Corner followers, but no doubt will be looking to rectify that with their tips for the coming week.

Both Chris' and Mark’s tips failed to be competitive.

Mark’s tip of Eternity Franco at Timaru (Race 4) on Sunday started at 2/1 in the betting but left its manners at home and broke twice in the running.

Chris’ tip of Lean On Me the next day in race eight at Ashburton was disappointing, but The Methven Magpie’s best bet for last week of Coal Fire in an earlier race (Race 6) ran a very good second to $1.60 hot shot Tour Party.

We will put the last week behind us and look forward to the guy’s best bets coming through for the next racing week in the next day or two.

Race 1 No. 2 NEPTUNITE

High quality 3yo racing in good form and draws ideally.

Could easily be picked up for a Eureka spot although unlikely coz he’s not in a ‘big’ stable.

The Methven Magpie is heading to this Sunday’s Kaikoura meeting for his best bet for this week’s racing.

It comes up early in the day.

He’s very keen on the Ken Barron trained Longview Tui in race two which has come up with the one marble.

The daughter of Art Major (USA) is to be driven Blair Orange and you would imagine he will be looking to lead with Longview Tui from the draw.

She has opened up at $4.20 and $1.60 a place with the corporate bookmakers.

MARK -

Canberra race on Sunday and going with the Nathan and Jet Turnbull combination with Destination Unknown in race 2.

Drawn well at gate 2 on the second row the horse looks very hard to beat here on the last start placing at Young.
