Unfortunately our three tipsters couldn’t find us a winner last weekend but no doubt with just two weeks until the end of our 2017 Charity Tipping Competition the guys will be wanting to end the year with a couple of winners for their followers.

Mark was closest in making some money last weekend when his tip of Waikari Fire at Motukarara on Sunday ran fourth at 8/7 in the betting – He could be one to follow.

The Methven Magpie went for Christmas Toyboy at Invercargill on Saturday but he was a little disappointing when running fifth in race eight after sitting in the trial and getting a soft run. The winner Sportzstar looks a smart type and look for him to continue on.

Chris' best bet for last weekend was Devendra at Gloucester Park but clearly there was something wrong with the horse on the night when he failed to flatter, finishing last to The Bucket List.

First in is Chris -

We're focused on the feature trotting event at Albion Park this weekend.

The Gr.2 $40,000 Darrell Alexander Memorial Trotting Championship Final takes place at Albion Park this Saturday night after two rounds of heats over the past fortnight.

And the Troy Williams trained Iona Grinner, a pacing bred but trotting mare, has excelled this year winning both heats and in impressive fashion.

Trotting as well as ever during this northern campaign.

In-form reinsman Robbie Morris booked to drive again.

                 Race 8         No.13            IONA GRINNER

Looks hard to beat.

The Methven Magpie has been doing plenty of study in the last couple of days and he tells us had has found what he thinks is a real value bet, at Sundays grass track meeting at Rangiora.

He thought the Kevin James trained Waikari Fire, which goes around as number 9 in race 2 on Sunday, was unlucky at its last run and The Magpie has the 4 year old son of Courage Under Fire as his best bet of this weekend’s racing.

Mark says -

I'm going to Rangiora on Sunday for the tip and sticking with a horse that I thought would go close at Methven but didn't run up to her previous start.

The horse in question is Christie Marie out of the Roger Winter stable.
On her run 2 starts back she would be a decent show in this field and hopefully because of the Methven performance a decent price too.
Good punting.

Good punting to all.
